This past week learning about demand and competition was really eyeopening. I knew there were ways companies would advertise or make sure their sites came up first when doing a search. I never knew how much money it cost though! I really liked learning about and using the Google AdWords planning. It is such a valuable tool for those with online businesses. It really surprised me to learn about the competition and demand of chess and snowboards. It was really interesting to see actual numbers of impressions each month, and how much that could cost you. The more money you have to spend, the more likely your site is to be found and clicked on, basically. I also liked being able to compare and contrast the different numbers and other information between ideas, and then making an educated decision with the case study. It has real life application.

I never imagined I would  have needed to take a web business creation class for my degree in web design and development, its a little nerve wracking. Although it does make sense, knowing how an online business works would be beneficial if I needed to create a site for one. I myself have always liked the idea of having an online business, but knew nothing about starting one or what I would even sell. The freedom it offers is really attractive. I know having a successful online business comes from hard work and investing a lot of time and some money. Most cases you won't find success overnight, but eventually building a successful online business is something that would be really exciting and rewarding.
